STOP AND THINK – Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort. (Franklin Roosevelt, 32nd president of the United States)

The U.S. Declaration of Independence speaks of the “the pursuit of happiness.” In reality, however, happiness is not a goal to pursue, hoping at some point to say, “I have become happy.” Rather, as Roosevelt suggests, happiness is the result of achieving something of worth as a consequence of hard work and creativity.

For the Lord your God will bless you . . . in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete. (Deuteronomy 16:15b)
