STOP AND THINK – An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves. (Bill Vaughan, 20th century American colonist and author)

Vaughan’s observation is worth thinking about on this last day of 2013. How do you face the New Year? Was 2013 a disappointment and you want to be sure its problems are gone? Or, are you so eager to see what lies ahead that you won’t be able to sleep tonight? Well, you can be sure the New Year will arrive tonight, so ask God to prepare you for whatever it may bring.

Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. (Matthew 6:34) Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness. (Matthew 6:33)
