STOP AND THINK – Ninety percent of the world’s woe comes from people not knowing themselves, their abilities, their frailties, and even their real virtues. (Sydney J. Harris, American journalist)

That’s a pretty strong statement. Sounds like Harris is saying that people need to know themselves better. In fact, he goes on to write, “Most of us go almost all the way through life as complete strangers to ourselves.” Well, if knowing ourselves is important to the welfare of society, we had better discover who we really are and were meant to be.

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment. (Romans 12:3)
