Time is a commodity that we can’t buy, can’t get back. It doesn’t matter if you made the most of it or wasted it, once it has passed, it’s gone. So the question is, what do we do with the limited time we have? None of us know exactly how much that is. It’s easy to think big—the time you have on this earth, life, etc. But I am not just talking about time in that sense; I am talking about today, now.
As I mentioned in the previous blog, Jesus has entrusted us with His wealth. We have no idea how much time we have with that wealth and power. We do know our time in which to use it is limited.
At God of Hope, we ask several questions. One is, “What is a life lost, then saved for eternity worth?”
One of the measurements of that is time. If someone came to you as the only person where they could learn the stories of Jesus or hear about hope and truth, how much is too much time to invest? When and how do you make the decision that enough is enough?
When we think about it like this, if the situation arises that we were physically saving someone’s life and all we had to do was sit next to them and talk to keep them alive, would you give up and walk away to let them die? No!
On the other hand, it is difficult to think that I am wasting my time if I am not actively using it to save a life. We have so many opportunities around us to wisely invest our time and take hold of its power.
I read a quote from a book, Futurecast, which says, “…an increasing number of people view work as a necessary evil-–something to be endured-–rather than as an opportunity to experience achievement and fulfillment…”
I think this is true. When we embrace the power that Jesus has given us and use our time as wealth to which He has entrusted us, we can find immense fulfillment in work, school, activities with friends and family, or sitting in traffic.
Ask yourself, “How am I using my time to change a life?” Changing your world starts with one life saved for eternity. You have power in your time.
