One day on a walk, I looked ahead and saw a rust-colored face peering back at me. At a distance, and only seeing the head, I thought it was Wally. So I called to him and began talking to him. As I got closer I realized it was a fox looking back at me, probably wondering who I was talking to. The fox decided to take off.
My eyes deceived me, but I also know I am too easily deceived by evil. I know that I need to be discerning about what I think I am seeing, who I follow, and and what I trust.
Matthew 24:23-25 “If anyone tries to flag you down, calling out, ‘Here’s the Messiah!’ or points, ‘There he is!’ don’t fall for it. Fake Messiahs and lying preachers are going to pop up everywhere. Their impressive credentials and dazzling performances will pull the wool over the eyes of even those who ought to know better. But I’ve given you fair warning.”
