Jesus Speaks: Return of the King

Jesus was sent by God to visit earth over 2,000 years ago. What He said was recorded by eyewitnesses in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Bible. This is what Jesus said about His return to earth.

No one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.[1]Matthew 24:36 NLT

The arrival of the Son of Man will take place in times like Noah’s. Before the great flood everyone was carrying on as usual, having a good time right up to the day Noah boarded the ark. They knew nothing—until the flood hit and swept everything away.[2]Matthew 24:27-29 MSG

So don’t you be slovenly and careless. Just when you don’t expect him, the Son of Man will show up.[3]Luke 12:40 MSG

Watch out for doomsday deceivers. Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities claiming, “I’m the One.” They will deceive a lot of people. When you hear of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don’t panic. This is routine history, and no sign of the end. Nation will fight nation and ruler will fight ruler, over and over. Earthquakes will occur in various places. There will be famines. But these things are nothing compared to what will happen.[4]Mark 13:5-8 MSG

In the confusion, lying preachers will come forward and deceive a lot of people. For many others, the overwhelming spread of evil will do them in—nothing left of their love but a mound of ashes.[5]Matthew 24:11-12 MSG

And watch out! They’re going to drag you into court. And then it will go from bad to worse, dog-eat-dog, everyone at your throat because you carry my name.[6]Mark 13:9 MSG

It’s going to be brother killing brother, father killing child, children killing parents. There’s no telling who will hate you because of me.[7]Mark 13:5-10 MSG

This is going to be trouble on a scale beyond what the world has ever seen, or will see again. If these days of trouble were left to run their course, nobody would make it. But on account of God’s chosen people, the trouble will be cut short.[8]Matthew 24:21-22 MSG

The arrival of the Son of Man isn’t something you go to see. He comes like swift lightning

to you.[9]Matthew 24:27-30 MSG

It will fill the skies- no one will miss it. Unready people all over the world, outsiders to the splendor and power, will raise a huge lament as they watch the Son of Man blazing out of heaven.[10]Matthew 24:30-31 MSG

And he will send out his angels with a mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of earth and heaven.[11]Matthew 24:31 NLT

You’re placed there as sentinels to truth. The Message has to be preached all across the world.[12]Mark 13:10 MSG

Stay with it—that’s what is required. Stay with it to the end. You won’t be sorry; you’ll be saved.[13]Mark 13:13 MSG
