Jesus Speaks: The Rich Fool

Jesus visited earth over 2,000 years ago. What He said was recorded by eyewitnesses in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Bible. This is what He said about the rich fool.

Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves cannot break in and steal.[1]Matthew 6:19-20 NLT It’s obvious, isn’t it?

The place where your treasure is, is the place where you most want to be, and end up being.[2]Matthew 6:21 MSG

Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot.[3]Luke 12:15 MSG

A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. He said to himself, ’What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ Then he said, “I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”[4]Luke 12:16-19 NLT

But God said to him, “You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?”[5]Luke 12:20 NLT That’s what happens when you fill your barn with Self and not with God.[6]Luke 12: 21 MSG You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both.[7]Matthew 6:24 MSG

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.[8]Matthew 6:33 NLT
