After Christmas

Next to a circus there ain’t nothing that packs up and tears out faster than the Christmas spirit. (Frank McKinney Hubbard, 19th-20th century American humorist)

It’s sad but true, isn’t it? I suspect you’ll note the loss of that spirit of joy and camaraderie when you’re standing in line at Walmart’s return desk this week. We’re quickly back to our self-centered agenda, and we may even be upset with the giver whose gift we’re returning. Maybe it would be better if we’d take a few days to meditate on what we were celebrating yesterday.

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15)
