This is a story told by Dr. Benjamin Alexander of American University.
A medical student had dissected a cadaver completely. He then asked the professor, “I opened every organ of the body and found no soul. How can people say a soul exists?”
The instructor asked him, “When you opened the brain, did you see an idea?”
“No,” the student answered.
“When you opened the heart, did you find love?” he asked.
“No,” the student answered.
The professor replied, “Just because some things cannot be seen or proven is no reason to conclude they do not exist.”
“But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being.” Romans 1:20 (The Message)
