Integrity
It is with trifles, and when he is off guard, that a man best reveals his character. (Arthur Schopenhauer, 19th-century German philosopher)
It’s a truth we need to be reminded of often. The character of a person is really not what is on public display; one can put on and take off a persona as he pleases in order to suit a particular crowd. But character is best revealed when you don’t think anyone is looking and you act out of your personal integrity.
I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there (I Chronicles 29:17).
