God of Hope

Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline, and good judgment . . . whoever learns from correction is wise (Proverbs 23:23; 15:5).

Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts (1 Thessalonians 2:4).

The hopes of the godly will be granted . . . The hopes of the godly result in happiness (Proverbs 10:24, 28).

So, get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech (1 Peter 2:1).

Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth (2 Timothy 2:25).

Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge. (Proverbs 18:15)

Make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others (Colossians 3:13).

The words of the godly encourage many . . . Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them (Proverbs 10:21; Ephesians 4:29)

Someone is watching you closely, you know— Someone not impressed with weak excuses (Proverbs 24:12, The Message).

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead (Philippians 3:13).

For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged (Matthew 7:2).

The godly give good advice to their friends . . . Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. (Proverbs 12:26; 27:6)
